Cooking with induction cooktops with Rooted In! (As will be seen on TV)

We are pleased to announce that Energize Green Bay (as part of the City of Green Bay) has formed a partnership with Rooted In to get the word out about induction cooktops! We have donated two of them to the organization. These will be used to further their mission, including at live cooking demonstrations, classes, and on television! Rooted In is a local nonprofit that focuses on elevating all aspects of our community through food. The scope of what they do can be a little dizzying. Among other things, they focus on diverting food that would otherwise be wasted to people in need, strengthening local food networks, empowering local food producers, and teaching people how to cook. Food and nourishment are fundamental to human life and human relationships. That’s why Rooted In is a natural partner to our Energize Green Bay campaign, which is focused on the benefits of clean energy for families and the local environment.

On Monday, February 24th, Alex Galt (Clean Energy Connector) will be appearing with Chef Selena Darrow of Rooted In on the Local 5 Live program with Millaine Wells (assuming we don’t get pre-empted!) on channel 5 sometime between 9 and 10. We’ll be talking about:

  1. The fact that induction cooktops are nothing like the electric stoves we’ve used in the past. Most people who switch from gas to induction never want to go back.
  2. The connection between gas stoves and childhood asthma.
  3. The benefits of clean energy and an ‘electrified home.’

AND, there will also be a tasty recipe for a chicken dish with pesto.

This is the kind of fun we are looking forward to having in 2025 and beyond with Rooted In!
