Energize Green Bay “Wrapped” 2025

It seems like end of the year “wrapped” posts are the thing to do these days. And why not? They’re fun. Energize Green Bay is the City’s clean energy campaign (funded by the Department of Energy’s EECBG program), so a little transparency goes with the territory. So here are some numbers.

We launched the campaign just over a year ago at a press event at Villa West, an apartment complex that’s really embraced solar energy and other clean energy technologies. Since then, our best estimate is that we’ve been able to touch base with people through broadcast media, print, social media, partnerships, the website, farmers market tables, and other means well over 300,000 times. Not bad!

The website, energizegreenbay.com, is the campaign’s richest source of metrics, so we’ll start there:

Throughout 2025, we were very focused on reaching homeowners, so it’s hardly surprising that they made up 72% of our audience. More recently, we are beginning to shift our focus toward renters and small business, so we hope to see those numbers inch up!

One of the first things that we did in 2024 was to create an outreach plan, so that’s what we’ve been following since. The plan was divided into five major areas: online engagement, in-person engagement, partnerships, traditional media, and print.

We hit Grow Solar–Green Bay pretty heavily this summer with our partners at Midwest Renewable Energy Association, Oneida Nation, and others. There were 20 total households that participated, 13 of which were within the City of Green Bay. There were another 4 that were in the Greater Green Bay area, and 3 up the Fox River in the Valley. These were good numbers for a group purchase program in its first year, look for it to return in 2026!

The campaign will be trying some new things in 2026. We will be heavily focused on the intersection of clean energy, energy efficiency, and housing affordability, and also small and medium sized businesses.

Hope everyone has a fantastic holiday season!
