Congratulations to Two Green Bay Companies That Are Finalists for Sustainable Business Council Awards Tonight!

UPDATE: Breakthrough Fuel won the Innovative Services Award, congrats!

Green Bay has long been at the center of innovative and sustainable business practices, after all, we’ve been recycling trash into useful paper products for decades! So, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that two local companies based in Green Bay are finalists for this year’s Sustainable Business Council (SBC) awards. SBC (formerly the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council) is a nonprofit that provides guidance and recognition to firms that have chose to embrace sustainable business practices as a core component of their activities. Their Green Masters Program is a great way for businesses to get on a well marked pathway towards sustainability, and they’re able to work with companies of all sizes. The Sustainable Business Awards a key part of that, and a lot of fun. They’re being held this evening in La Crosse, so keep your fingers crossed for our local finalists.

Two Green Bay businesses are up for awards this year:

1.) Little Rapids Corporation is up for “Sustainable Product of the Year” for their ECOVA line of packaging material. Replacing plastic in packaging is an incredibly important problem to solve, ECOVA is a recyclable paper material that does just that for flexible packaging. Think candy wrappers, or pretzel sachets. Wish them luck!

2.) Breakthrough Fuel (a U.S. Ventures Company) is up for “Innovative Service of the Year” for their CleanMile technology. As more companies come to accept their responsibility for managing a sustainable supply chain, the importance of tracking carbon emissions in the shipping industry only grows. CleanMile provides users information about their carbon emissions with actionable insights that help reduce them. Transportation is among the very largest sources of CO2, so these reductions are very impactful.

We will update this post tomorrow to let you know if they won!
