- The City of Green Bay and the Oneida Nation have partnered the Midwest Renewable Energy Association’s (MREA) Grow Solar Green Bay – Fox Valley group-buy program.

Grow Solar is a program of the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA). These group-buy programs have been run successfully throughout Wisconsin and in several neighboring states.
MREA is one of the Midwest’s largest nonprofits working to advance renewable energy. They’re celebrating their 35th anniversary in 2025. Go to midwestrenew.org

How does it work?
Just like with Sam’s Club or Costco, group purchasing means better prices.
The more people who choose to install solar panels this year through the program, the better the discount will be. The discounts are tiered, so that the more kWs of solar installed, the cheaper. The sign up will be open through September, and then it will close.

No. The program area encompasses Brown and Outagamie counties.
Why?
Solar PV on homes reduces carbon emissions, which is the goal of Clean Energy Green Bay. The City Council passed this plan in December 2023 with the goal of creating a more resilient and sustainable city for our children and grandchildren. Read more about the benefits of clean energy here.
Are there tax credits? Rebates?
Focus on Energy has increased its solar PV rebates. In 2026, homeowners will be able to get up to $2,400, and businesses up to $25,000. Click here for more information.
